The birds again

The birds are at it again, or I am awake to early. Same thing. At least I went to bed early. I think the travel itinerary is close to being finalized. It looks like I will be going north on Monday for the week. There will likely be very little internet. I will check in when I can to tell you what I can about what is going on. I am excited about that trip because it is a relatively new area for the eco-sanitation program and mountainous. So new terrain for me, and a new area for the work. Bekele and I have be talking and have come up with some good initial ideas. He trusts a lot of my instincts on how to get the different stakeholders all involved. We are going to put some pressure on people by making them form a group sort of by accident. We are going to get them all in the same room and manipulate the discussion a bit so it ends up in this formation. We know that they all support the program but so far it has been at a bit of a distance and at arms length from each other even though they often sit in the same office or down the hall.
The malarial dreams were at it again last night. Woke up very confused. Remembered dreams of restaurants and hotels and reality rememberences all discombobulated into words that had meaning and didn’t, don’t, exist, like the memories, or dreams. I was sure that you were here for a moment and then you disappeared into the nights dark like the dream, slowly, and in its haze, the dream. Very strange. Heavy sleep. One side of my face still feels the pillow pressed hard against it. The damn birds don’t sleep here. And the dogs and cats, and what ever they hunt at 3 am. But the malarial dreams when they come make sleep hold on so the waking is brief and delirious. At 5 am I woke again and lay there with my eyes open wondering what the hell. Like a sleeping pill on the eyes slowly wearing off. I miss my girls, and my wife.
